First Book launched ‘Book Relief’ in September 2005, in response to the enormous devastation caused by hurricane Katrina. Since that time, Book Relief has distributed more than three million new books to children and families, and libraries, schools and literacy programs in more than 20 states, including the states directly affected by the storms and communities around the country that took in evacuees.

Imagine Nation Books gave away $1 million worth of books to Book Relief to give to children and adults in need in the Gulf Coast region.

Imagine Nation Books and Books Are Fun are now one company under the name Books Are Fun Ltd and ownership of Earl Kaplan. Books Are Fun is poised to give away nearly $12 million worth of books this year alone to schools and other organizations who participate in our School Book Displays and Corporate Book Fair Fundraisers.
